Mirpur Police Register Blasphemy Case.

Mirpur: City Police Station has registered an FIR under blasphemy laws involving hate speech.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Choudary Ajmal Mehboob a resident of Sector F-3 Mirpur had filed a complaint against Hamza Kazmi, a resident of Saddat Colony Mirpur and a student of Mirpur University of Science and Technology, alleging that he had been putting up highly blasphemous posts on social media targetting the holy personalities.

The complainant stated that residents of Mirpur have always lived together with interfaith and religious harmony and people like Hamza Kazmi are trying to sow the seed of hatred among the locals and he requested Mirpur Police in his application to register a case against the accused. The SHO Sohail Yousaf in the light of directions by the SSP Irfan Saleem has registered a case under two sections of Blasphemy Law, 295-A and 298-A of APC after consultation of Legal Branch and District Mufti.

Earlier today, a group of citizens met with Irfan Saleem, SSP Mirpur, and brought the case into his notice and the officer affirmed that legal actions would be sorted against the accused under the necessary provisions of law.
